Modeling the Photometric Variability of Alpha2 CVn with a Dynamical Magnetosphere

چکیده
Alpha$^2$ Canum Venaticorum (AM CVn) is a strongly magnetic star with peculiar chemical signatures and periodic variability that have been long attributed to the diffusion of elements through photosphere, leading spots across stellar surface. However, recent studies other hot stars are consistent magnetospheric clouds above Here we take renewed approach modeling AM CVn simplified dynamical magnetosphere (DM) tilted, offset dipole reproduce its Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) variability. Our model also reproduces well surface map from Silvester, Kochukhov, & Wade (2014). Its ultraviolet variability, IUE archival spectra, traditional reddening models. We further discuss implications on observable quantities system conclude it unlikely be present in CVn.

Long-term photometric behaviour of outbursting AM CVn systems
The AM CVn systems are a class of He-rich, post-period minimum, semidetached, ultracompact binaries. Their long-term light curves have been poorly understood due to the few systems known and the long (hundreds of days) recurrence times between outbursts. We present combined photometric light curves from the Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research, Catalina Real-Time Transient Survey, and Palomar T...

متن کاملThe Photometric Variability of Hh 30
HH 30 is an edge-on disk around a young stellar object. Previous imaging with the Hubble Space Telescope has show morphological variability that is possibly related to the rotation of the star or the disk. We report the results of two terrestrial observing campaigns to monitor the integrated magnitude of HH 30. We use the Lomb-Scargle periodogram to look for periodic modulation with periods bet...
